Umm, why? Do you really think they would skip him over Salem all together? I can't see him going from Greenville to Portland but I can definitely see him getting promoted to Salem.nm - Beeks promotion already mentioned upthread.
Sharwyn may get bumped to Portland, since they still need a roster move.
Meant Salem.Umm, why? Do you really think they would skip him over Salem all together? I can't see him going from Greenville to Portland but I can definitely see him getting promoted to Salem.
and his 14th.Chavis hits number 13. Promote him already.
The only thing holding him back is that he has made 9 errors in 17 games. Curious if they'd bump him up despite that. He hadn't been healthy enough to play back to back games in the field until recently.Chavis hits number 13. Promote him already.
Ya - he has 47 errors in 180 career games. Sucks since he has a plus arm and is fast. With Devers in the system and Mooreland a short term fix, I wouldn't be surprised to see Chavis start getting reps at some point.
I wouldn't read much into minor league error totals in the minors, especially at the A level. A lot of it is field quality. I haven't really seen many reports about his defense though.Ya - he has 47 errors in 180 career games. Sucks since he has a plus arm and is fast.
Sounds like he has OF in his future .. which would certainly benefit our outfield depthYa - he has 47 errors in 180 career games. Sucks since he has a plus arm and is fast.
Wow, the kid just turned 18. Any info on his stuff? We may be talking about Bryan Mata a lot more really soon. 6ip, 4h, 1er, 1bb/6k tonight for Greenville. 80 pitches, 53 strikes.
16 now. He is hitting a HR in every 12.7 AB.Some guy named Chavis hit a home run. That's 15.
And today--6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K. 71/43We may be talking about Bryan Mata a lot more really soon. 6ip, 4h, 1er, 1bb/6k tonight for Greenville. 80 pitches, 53 strikes.
3 straight games where he's pitched 6 innings. Pitch totals of 81/53, 80/53, 71/43. Efficient.And today--6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K. 71/43
Nice little article on Trey Ball here: http://www.pressherald.com/2017/06/11/on-baseball-no-reason-to-fast-track-trey-ball-into-boston/Trey Ball went 5.1ip, 6h, 2 er, 1hr, 4bb/4k yesterday.
I'd say Travis but I wouldn't argue with him being 3rd. He just has a really low floor. So is Chavis officially the #3 prospect in the system right now? Devers, Groom, and ...
That must have been excruciating to watch...Henry Owens 4.2ip, 4h, 1 er, 8bb/2k on 110 pitches... 53 strikes, 57 balls. 2 wild pitches.
For Devers, his rate of doubles is about the same as in Salem and Greenville, but his HR/FB rate has just about doubled. His in-game power has arrived.Devers is currently 2/2 with a 2b, his 11th HR and a BB. Lin is 1/2 with a 2b and a walk. I want to start taking him seriously. His batted ball profile is completely different.
edit: Those 11 HRs tie his career high. He hit 11 in both 2015 and 2016. In 2015, it took him 508 PA, 2016 546. In 2017, it took him 231... as a 20 year old in AA. It was also his first HR vs a lefty since like August of 2015.
They went with only 1 team this year instead of 2 because of their signing restrictions the last 2 years. I tend not to pay too much attention to the DSL but this year the team is especially terrible. It's made up mostly guys in their 2nd or 3rd seasons and somewhat old for the league.Anyone have a feel for who we should be watching on the DSL team? Rayniel Moreno is an 18 year old left handed pitcher who is off to a good start.
