New York Knicks 2024-25: Not everyone can be an OG

So why not play your starters 48 minutes every night so that they’re the best conditioned they could possibly be to play 48 minutes every night in the playoffs?

New York Knicks 2024-25: Not everyone can be an OG

But how is that specifically evidence of superior conditioning rather than talent or coaching or matchups? Does an Indy blowout = inferior conditioning?

New York Knicks 2024-25: Not everyone can be an OG

So in the game 5 overtime loss to the Sixers, by your logic, the Knicks were not better conditioned? Game three vs. Pacers they were worse conditioned? Game six, where they drew dead even the second half, they were worse conditioned? The other games they were outscored in the fourth quarter...

New York Knicks 2024-25: Not everyone can be an OG

I’ve posted this about Thibs before, and it’s mostly driven by the insane commentary this postseason that “Thibs minutes” had made his players MORE conditioned for the postseason. It’s debatable that he caused his players to get hurt; it’s another thing altogether to claim that they’re better...

New York Knicks (2) vs Indiana Pacers (6) - 2024 EC Second Round

If thinking that Thibs playing his guys extended minutes every game is dumb, so is the idea that having these guys play 45 minutes every night turns them into superhumans.

    The Bill Simmons Thread

Aren't there other factors to playing in Miami outside of strictly the heat and humidity? The way their stadium is set up, the home team's bench is in the shade while the away team is baking in the sun during day games. It's not so much that Miami heat is "different" September, but that teams...

An Ode to the Fallen: 2024 - 2025 Offseason Thread

Are we assuming destination team has already agreed to extension for Mitchell or are these trade proposals just for one year of Mitchell? I’m skeptical he goes for that much without a firm agreement he’s signing

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

It’s funny that the Heat are Schrodinger’s Team - simultaneously threatening because they have The Best Coach in The NBA and retrospectively a cream puff. OKC can get all the credit in the world for beating NOLA without Zion, but the Celtics get no credit for beating the opponents in front of them.

OKC Thunder (1) vs Dallas Mavericks (5) - 2024 WC Second Round

The difference is the demands at C vs. wing/PG. Jokic had a much lower bar to reach vs. what Luka has in front of him. I mean, Luka makes James Harden look like Anthony Edwards.

OKC Thunder (1) vs Dallas Mavericks (5) - 2024 WC Second Round

This is partly why I can't stand watching Luka (beyond the ref bitching). It's just totally unacceptable (and seemingly impossible) to be that bloated while playing 40 minutes of professional basketball every two nights and I'm just left feeling aggravated that he's wasting all of his amazing...

New York Knicks (2) vs Indiana Pacers (6) - 2024 EC Second Round

Can you point me to where you're seeing OG's hamstring injury as being a "random injury"? I don't put that in the same ballpark as a shoulder injury or a sprained ankle - that seems like something that would flare up after not really playing all of February or March and then quickly ramping up...

New York Knicks (2) vs Indiana Pacers (6) - 2024 EC Second Round

Thibs’ usage of his top guys may make them better conditioned… but isn’t there some correlation with Thibs’ rotation and how injured they are? It feels like he’s getting credit for what they’re doing as a undermanned squad, but a big reason they’re undermanned is he runs his players into the ground.

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

It’s a frustrating watch, but I’m trying to remind myself that the Celtics are the only team in the playoffs missing a key contributor in KP and still easily dispatching their opponent. If Dallas were missing Washington, or Denver Gordon, or OKC Chet, or Minny Gobert (okay, maybe analogy stops...

Is there anything to Minnesota being better without Gobert in this series? He just limits them so much offensively
