Going back to early season baseball seems a little anticlimactic after the titanic struggle of Knicks/Sixers, but the Yankees come back home tonight after a demoralizing four game set in BAL. First they face the resurgent Tigers, who are actually 10-4 on the road.

Great bunt by Verdugo. We'd be pretty annoyed if he hadn't pulled that off, but it was perfect. And then followed by a rocket from Stanton. And a couple lucky singles for Judge and Rizzo.

Actually amazing how well that bunt worked considering he was showing it the pitch before. 3-0 now with Verdugo at cleanup, I believe?

Verdugo came really close to popping out on that 2-0 pitch, lucky it just made it into the stands.

First nine-inning win trailing and being shut out entering the 9th for the Yankees since May 5, 2017, at Wrigley Field. That game feels fresh here, that was a Brett Gardner bomb.

Javier Baez has played on the losing team in both of the most recent instances.

James Smyth said 2016, but I think the difference is that they won the Cubs game in extra innings, not in the 9th. Brett Gardner right in the middle of both of those!!

Stanton still might be the only player I know of that hits low opposite field line drives 116mph

His is walkoff, mine is independent of location, since walkoff requires a home game, so it's going to be more recent a contest as a result. No extra innings in either though.

LOVE that Gardy is naturally involved with both games! Onward.
