    The Red Sox are probably responsible for most of the jump in unearned runs this year. The ball has almost certainly been de-juiced. I wonder if hitters will be able to adapt now that there's a lower success rate in homers per fly ball. Can they go from trying to launch to trying to hit line...

    Do teams really have analytic groups of 70+ people now? I remember back in the old days when Theo was first hired it was a big deal that they crammed 10-15 stat guys into the "new" offices that were where the Fenway bowling alley used to be.

    Why are stolen bases and caught stealing not good enough to capture what you're looking for? Back in the 1880s, tagging up on fly balls and advancing on errors were counted as steals. Taking extra bases is kind of ignored in current stats, and I could see the argument of an "extra bases taken"...

    That's a function of offense being down across the league again. When the weather warms up, runs should increase some. But if it didn't, this would be the lowest OPS season in baseball in 35 years. And pitchers don't hit anymore.
