Hello Sox Fans,

I am taking the family, including my two boys (12 and 15) to Naples the last week of Feb. They are both huge Baseball / Sox Fans, and we were planning on heading to Jet Blue for a day or two.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations to maximize the experience for my boys. Is it better to go to a game / or practice and watch BP and throwing sessions? Can we even get into the park for non-game or practice activities? Also any general recommendations or thoughts on seating or places to check out while there?

I figured others may be heading down as well and find value in sharing our experiences.

Thanks in advance any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

This may get more traction on the main board.

It’s a blast and my boys still talk about it. If your kids are in to autographs, you need to go early and hang out on the back fields and follow the crowds as different guys come out to take BP or fielding practice. The games are a lot of fun for the first few innings but my kids remember the interactions with the players more.

Thanks for the assistance thus far.

We are definitely excited. I am unsure if its better to go on an "off day" as access to the players might be better or head down and experience a game. We may end up doing both. We definitely plan to get there early and make a day of it, spending as much time bouncing around the park and watching the players as is allowed.

They may still offer a "game day tour" of Jet Blue which included on field access behind home plate for batting practice.
Players will sign autographs.

It's a bit harder to predict who's where once the games get started, and it kind of depends on whether any player interactions are good or whether you have your heart set on one particular player. The good news is that many of the minor leaguers won;t have reported officially yet so the major leaguers and NRIs may still spread out a bit among the different fields. The major leaguers frequently use Field 1 and Field 3 for workouts (in addition to the main stadium field, which you can't access early or on a non-game day), both of which they can access without crossing where fans are, but they will have some drills and BP on the others. I have seen folks do all right with autographs standing at the edge of the agility field between Field 1 and Field 3 and calling out to players. (Also from there you can usually see if someone you want is headed to a different field.)

If you go 2/27 or 2/28 you will definitely miss everyone who goes on the road trips, of course, but there may be a better crowd-to-activity ratio.

Not sure how frequently you are in the area but it's my impression that it gets hotter every year. Water and sunscreen are your friends. There's a water fountain but no concessions on the back fields (there are restrooms) and sunscreen availability seems to depend on whether they have a sponsor. If you go to a game, I like to be up close, but the seats a little higher up have better shade.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

We are looking at the Monday game vs the Phillies then hope to head, back later in the week as well. As for purchasing tickets and parking, any suggestions?

Starting this year, parking is included with your game ticket. Just plan on not rushing out after the game. A lot of folks hang out near Gate D to watch the guys on the visiting team who actually finished the game get on the bus.

On non-game days after the games have started, parking is easy--enter using the gate closest to 75 and they'll direct you.
