A lot of subtlety is required. Is it just me or can this be construed as subtly, or not so subtly, racist?
He been the giant bug on the Celtics postseason windshield for the last 5 years. I'm not sure if will help them get warmed up for Jokic.Am I crazy for wanting to play the Sixers because Embiid is the closest thing to a warm up for Jokic that exists?
I didn’t see the play but maybe he’s grabbing his knee?In what has to be an NBA first, Joel Embiid is grabbing his shorts just after a strenuous opening jump ball.View attachment 81706
That's exactly what he was doing. The Embiid conditioning narrative feels played out but monkeys love their footballI didn’t see the play but maybe he’s grabbing his knee?
Feels like a ‘90s blood match. Nothing better than basking in the glow of a Cs playoff win and watching two teams beat the hell out of each other in front of a raucous crowd. This feels like its going to be another closely contested one at the end. They are playing hard AF and its the first quarter.
I have been on that for past years---and believe on the merits I was correct---but this year his conditioning has seemed totally fine to me (last year I thought so as well). There's a bit of a 'ramping back up' question right now, but it's different than past years, imo. That's exactly what he was doing. Indeed - this series in particular has been so fun. I could watch them play a 14 game series actually.Feels like a ‘90s blood match. Nothing better than basking in the glow of a Cs playoff win and watching two teams beat the hell out of each other in front of a raucous crowd.
IMO the conditioning questions early in his career were entirely fair. As you note, what he is doing out there is pretty amazing. Imagine if he were fully healthy.I have been on that for past years---and believe on the merits I was correct---but this year his conditioning has seemed totally fine to me (last year I thought so as well). I also give the guy credit - his knee is obviously an issue, and he's been out there fighting through it very admirably and effectively. So to degree he is building back his wind, that is not an effort or desire thing at all, that's just managing the injury on off-days.
They're also fine letting Embiid sit in drop coverage, which is bad for a bunch of reasons. Only Brunson and Divincenzo seem ok taking 3's off the dribble, and if they're just gonna let Embiid sit in the paint on defense where he can rest and not test his mobility (and where he's most comfortable anyway), it's a failure. This first quarter has been the 76ers team that people didn't want to see in the playoffs.
New York's playing Embiid straight-up and letting him get the ball in the paint without much trouble has not been ending well for them.
New York needs to win the more than just the non-Embiid minutes.
This is going to be an epic. They’re going to end up in the 90s - after Overtime.A Philly crowd with a healthy dose of New Yorkers. Its like having all the crazy uncles in one place.
Strikes me as a big reach. Is it just me or can this be construed as subtly, or not so subtly, racist?
I hadn't even thought of that one. This feels like the Louis CK bit about how saying "the n word" just makes me have to say it in my head.Strikes me as a big reach.
A reference to climbing it, though, and I'd have got there with you.
Brunson calling out Embiid to his face is awesome. I’ll easily find a way to root against him, but he doesn’t give an inch. This series is the chippiest.
