MIL's DRtg for the series was 119.4. Players who were worse than that:

Lopez: 125.3 (NetRtg = -10.7)
Dame: 124.8 (NetRtg = -13.8)
Crowder: 123.3 (NetRtg = -25.7)
PatBev: 121.6 (NetRtg = -1.5)
Gallinari: 120.3 (NetRtg = +1.8)

Beasley was at 119.4 (NetRtg = -15.7).

Bobby Portis was +7.7 Net and Middleton was +0.9.

Bobby Marks said on Lowe's podcast that teams end realizing that playing the "veteran supporting player" roulette is no way to build a team. The team keeps signing three or four veterans and maybe one hits but the other three are net negatives and then they have to sign 3-4 more veterans and it's super hard to keep trying to build a team like this.

Griffin was right in one respect - trying to developer Jackson and Beauchamp and Green would have been the best way to proceed.
Brad/front office really nailed it in terms of spending firsts on quality veteran role players.

You wrote "A bunch of fans who can afford to sit two rows from the court and decide to heckle the opponents' bench got a ball thrown relatively harmlessly in their direction. Nobody went into the stands. Jeez." this morning.
I also wrote "Dude needs a lengthy suspension, no doubt. I'm not defending him. Personally I hate his game and think that the basketball-loving world would be better off with his poor play safely sequestered in China or Sokovia B or maybe some 3-man pro-am league. And it's bad business for players to angrily interact with the paying customers."

Not sure how one interprets that as "jimbo is ok with Pat throwing balls at fans".

There were calls in this thread for the guy to be thrown out of the league, and I was calling that reaction to what actually occurred an overreaction.

The "got a ball thrown relatively harmlessly in their direction." line may have not reflected your actual viewpoint. I saw nothing harmless in what he did, but appreciate that we at times write quick and don't perfectly express what's going on in our noggin.

Fair enough. What I meant was that nobody was injuried or imo likely to be seriously injured. The woman who was hit actually laughed. The severity of the violation matters to me as to suspension length or an outright ban. Climbing into the stands and punching people is a different level.

That said, dude should be punished heavily for what he did, whether somewhat was hurt or not. If I were the discipline guy, I'd have to consider prior cases of course, but 10-20 games seems reasonable. The league doesn't want this. Maybe the next guy thinks twice (and maybe the next guy has better than 52% true shooting and actually hurts someone).

LOVE Cancun on 3. Brilliant.

Not surprised it was that benign. These days, players have fans removed from the arena when they cross the line. Pat Bev's Twitter claim that the situation had been brewing all night and that the players had asked for help (presumably from security) doesn't make any sense. If the players wanted the fans gone, they would have been gone. (And then there's the fact that Giannis was apologizing afterwards -- why do that if the fans had been asshats from opening tip?)

If he does not come back, Pat Bev's NBA career ending with a tantrum caused by some benign (but clever) trolling and a suspension he will never serve after a first round exit *feels* right. I imagine he does, but it would be pretty funny.

To me, the most likely thing was he and the fan had been trashtalking all game, he lost the game, the fan basically had the "last word", and the Bev chucked the ball because he didn't have a rebuttal for "loooooser". Hence the general nonchalance of his teammates to the fan, etc and the laughter of other fans because there was no better thing than "sore loser Bev".
Cancun, Cancun on 3 is far, far better than anything I thought of, dammit.

Typically if a fan is thrown out of a game for crossing the line in their verbal abuse they are then banned from the arena for a certain period of time. Why don’t they just ban Patrick Beverley from the arena for a year?

BTW we should consider inviting the guy who came up with “Cancun on three” to join the forum.

Suggestions that the fan was probably more at fault have a pretty steep hill to climb, I think.
There is a world where they are both wrong
How about the poor woman who could have had her nose broken because PatBev missed his intended target? Dude needs a long suspension. If the other fan was being vulger or racial that needs to be addressed too, but NBA players have gotten soft as puppy poo when it comes to run of the mill heckling from opposing fans. And as said above, it's rich coming from a notorious shit talker like PatBev. Belt to ass, my ass.
Even Robin Ficker had to stop heckling. Todays players couldn’t handle him.

Isn’t it funny how the “toughest” players on the court are so thin-skinned off of it?
No kidding. Speaking of which, love the ESPN ban on PatBev, as that'll hurt an ego driven bully far more a fine. Be a fine precedent for TNT and Draymond.
