Smiling Joe Hesketh said:The board apparently like him, but the issue with Malky, as I understand it, is that he plays the same defensive style that Hughton plays. The team can't score despite bringing in Hooper and Van Wolfswinkel, so another defensive coach isn't really going to help all that much.
Now, if the problem with the club is conditioning or setup of the team, then maybe Malky would make a difference. But I'm not sure that's the real problem. Holt has stated that he left the club because he felt that Hughton's tactics were too defensive and were going to hurt the team (of course, Holt also got way out of shape and has scored only twice in the Championship this year, so the problem could well have been him).
We need points in the worst way and if they continue tos cuffle they can't afford to wait to sack Hughton. Really nice man, very well-liked, but the club is struggling terribly despite bringing in a lot of talent last summer. Staying up is crucial, David McNally has stated this repeatedly. If there's a danger of the drop then there's no question Hughton's gone.
Smiling Joe Hesketh said:1 point out of the relegation zone. Hughton needs to go. Today. Not tomorrow, not next week. Today.
We can't score, we can't defend, we can't win. And we definitely cannot do down this year. Sack him and bring in someone else. Mackay would be fine. I don't care. Anyone to shake things up.
Yes, we held Man City to a draw. We also lost to fucking Cardiff and West Ham. We've scored 2 goals in our last 6 matches.soxfan121 said:No credit for holding Man City to a draw?
Also, 1 point out relegation but 3 points from 10th place.
West Ham is actually a pretty good side with Nolan back from suspension since now they can score a bit. Their defense was already quite good, leading the BPL in clean sheets.Smiling Joe Hesketh said:Yes, we held Man City to a draw. We also lost to fucking Cardiff and West Ham. Hughton has made 63 subs this season. He's gotten 0 goals and 0 assists from them, because 90% of them have been in the 88th minute or later. He has no idea how to change the flow of a game positively. He pulled Redmond from the Cardiff game and immediately the attack dried up. Hoolahan has been banished for unknown reasons despite being one of the few creative players we have. Van Wolswinkel is having a terrible season.
McNally has been adamant that we cannot be relegated this year; they have tons of plans for redoing the ground and the training facilities and desperately need the EPL money. Hughton's job is to keep them up. It's appearing that he can't do it. He spent all that money last summer and none of it has helped.
Keep in mind our last 4 matches of the season: Liverpool, @ManU, @Chelsea, Arsenal. There's a very real chance we get ZERO points from those games. The situation is dire; we need wins now if we want any hope for staying up.
Fuck it, I'd love to have a pint with Hughton but he's got to get the sack. Bring in Malky for all I care, anyone's better than this.
