    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

I agree with much of that, although I think things would have looked different if we had had to play against Rozier, Butler, Allen, Mitchell every game, etc. We weren’t fully healthy either, but our opponents had more key injuries than us. Out of round 2 I 10 games is great though.

FWIW, I completely agree with you that “soft” is a poor description of Jayson Tatum.

Well, I can’t reply fully right now but I will just say that: I didn’t intend my post to come across the way it obviously did. Sorry about that.

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

I hate that this place has become such a safe space that criticism is only barely allowed. But I’ll just say this - none of @lovegtm’s arguments, none of which I’m saying are wrong - are geared towards convincing a skeptic. It’s more of a hagiography. That has its place, but if the goal is to...

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

This level of superlative doesn't square with the fact that the Celtics offense, especially without KP, is prone to long stretches of borderline incompetence, especially in the 4th quarters of close games, when it looks as if their priority is "burn 10 extra sconds off the clock >>> score."...

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

This means 5th ECF in 7 years, Tatum and Brown here for all of them. That's part of why they get flak for not breaking through. No one was criticizing what they did in Tatum's rookie year with Kyrie and Hayward out, or even 2020 in the bubble. But the (as of yet) inability to move beyond what...

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

Al really wanted the extra rest. Draymond Green, in the postgame interfiew of JT, asked him "WTF is wrong with Al's PNR defense and how are you guys going to survive the next round?" (paraphrased)

    Pritchard Extended

Have to give some credit to Joe and the other guys on the team for the latter one. Huge, huge shot and Joe called #11.

Joe Mazzulla officially named head coach

I think that would only apply to the idea of going small against a team that is playing a typical lineup. If the Cavs go small and it works for them, I don't see anything wrong with the Celtics responding in kind. I don't see why Tatum would be less gassed matching up agaisnt the same guy just...

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

Disagree. The ref was out of position and could have ruined a key play. Imagine Brown getting tangled with the ref and that play becoming a turnover or a missed basket fast break. It could have cost them the game. I don't blame Brown for being pissed.

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

Correct. Joe has said he wants the Celtics to take more shots and more threes than their opponents - that's part of his answer to how the Celtics win on a cold shooting night. Tonight, Cleveland took (and hit) more threes (15-48 vs 12-32) and took (and hit) the same number of 2s as the Celtics...

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

That Jaylen three was decisive - it iced the game. It is absolutely nuts that Jayken had to navigate around a ref in that situation. I hope the league takes action against that guy.

Jayson Tatum's Rise to the Top

He hit one of the one-legged Dirk shots tonight. I can't remember the last time I saw him hit one of those. I feel like his best midrange shots are when he is facing the defender, holding the ball, still having his dribble, and he can either free himself up to shoot with a jab or the defender is...

    Round 2: Celtics vs Cavs

He is 38. But I said that he looked finished, not that he was finished. Five I think, but, yes, an improvement over 9.

Jayson Tatum's Rise to the Top

What is frustrating about watching Tatum in the midrange is that on so many of these, it just looks like he is settling for a bad, low-percentage even for him look. That's not true for all of his midrange shots, but it was for a good many of the ones he took tonight. And then you can't help but...
