VAR What is it good for?

I don't necessarily disagree but think that's a separate issue. They have a system in place, the foundation of it is that they draw the lines when a decision is reasonably close to make sure they get it "right," and they seem to have just failed to do that for inexplicable reasons in one of the...

VAR What is it good for?

A number of accounts on Twitter, at least one of whom has a very good track record with this kind of stuff in my experience, are claiming that VAR never checked to see whether KDB was offside on the goal against Spurs that made it 1-0. He very well may be onside here. I really have no idea...

No Offense, But.... (The 2024 Summer Transfer Window Thread)

FWIW, rumors about Zubimendi have gone very cold on the Arsenal side and all the talk recently has been about the club looking hard at Bruno Guimaraes or Joao Neves as a midfielder to sign. So that would square with your impressions from the Spanish side.

Yeah, my guess is that Lopetegui got guarantees that West Ham wouldn't be selling key players on his arrival, other than maybe Paqueta (who seemingly would have gone to City last summer if not for the weird betting issue).

I think Openda is probably the most intriguing player on this list. No idea if RBL would be open to selling so soon though. I really like Sesko a lot. The variety of his goals in his comps videos really pops - remarkably two footed striker, good with his head, seemingly knows how to make a...

Meh, when you lose the title by one result than almost any match can be seen as plausibly decisive. City have set an incredible standard for the PL, making the league far harder to win than in any other era. Roughly matching that standard is itself a huge accomplishment but, as Liverpool...

IMO, it was perfectly understandable and relatable for Spurs fans to be conflicted about the whole situation in the run up to the match. I think it would be similar for many fan bases if the shoe was on the other foot. But if you're actually going to attend the match, and you see your team...

No Offense, But.... (The 2024 Summer Transfer Window Thread)

Thanks for the la liga insights as always. Rodrygo would be a really interesting option if he became available. Everything I have read about Nico Williams suggests that he has a low release clause but very high wages for a player his age, potentially prohibitively so for many clubs that...

No Offense, But.... (The 2024 Summer Transfer Window Thread)

That is just my wild ass guess from what I’ve picked up from reading about football. It’s certainly nothing authoritative but I’d be curious to know what other top level attackers you think might move.

Welp. Not many better finishers in world football over the last 6-7 years than Son, especially in that kind of situation. Spurs and Forest scored zero goals on a combined 4 XG in those two recent matches and that’s almost certainly going to decide the title. Arsenal did what we could and can...

No Offense, But.... (The 2024 Summer Transfer Window Thread)

Personally I doubt it will happen. With the market so dry, I think a lot of big clubs face an issue similar to would-be-home-buyers in a low volume housing market. You don't want to sell a good player unless you really like the upgrade you can make, but there just aren't a lot of options...

No Offense, But.... (The 2024 Summer Transfer Window Thread)

At least in terms of attacking players, this looks to me like the worst transfer market in recent memory. Who are the best, realistically transferable attacking players this summer? I mean strikers, wingers, or attacking midfielders who are truly likely to move, not players like Kvara, Wirtz...

This felt like a a youth soccer "everybody gets a chance to play" substitution. Taking off your one true defensive midfielder with a 3-1 lead is not a choice you make if you're really focused on trying to win the game.
