    Minor League Thread 2024

I’d still promote Kavadas and hope he can go on a Dalbec like month until Casas is healthy then he could be decent trade bait (like Bobby should have been after ‘21). I doubt the difference between Nick’s value now and if he struggled in a promotion to be different…. But a good 150AB’s could...

    Minor League Thread 2024

Nobody seems to trust Kavadas or Lugo’s numbers for some reason. I know 40 man roster stuff but I’d rather see Kavadas at 1B than Smith/Cooper right now. Jordan seems too intriguing but I think Yorke needs a new team. I know he’s still young for AA but he hasn’t shown he can take the next...

    5/18: HoucKutter v. (don't really care)

Rafaela has had a few miscues there himself…. But seriously, his range is way greater than The Blizzard’s. Cedanne was getting to hits I don’t think others could have. I think the best alignment right now is him at SS and Duran in CF. Oneill in LF and Abreu in Right

Those first five are a legit lineup (sure , Wong playing over his head…). Add a Casas and healthy Story there and they’re at least 5 games different in W’s right now

I was thinking Death and the Maiden by the Verlaines but right! CE&P by Talking Heads too!

Who to sell at the trade deadline?

It’s more likely a team that doesn’t have much good middle IF high minors depth might take one of Yorke or Meidroth AND the Sox pick up 1/2 his salary at least.

Who to sell at the trade deadline?

I don’t think these things negate each other…. The Sox are likely looking as serious playoff competitors next season (I’m not saying they’re not this season) and they have several older veterans that don’t line up with that “opening”. They have a lot of position talent in the high minors but...

Who to sell at the trade deadline?

I can’t defend my lack of trades at the ‘22 deadline- but there just weren’t takers for all the injured talent. But the ‘23 deadline had Houck, Story, Sale, Whitlock and Schreiber all expected back in early July. Those names were better than any trade deadline pickups, and they were 3 out...

Who to sell at the trade deadline?

Geez despite the record and recent play, I’m still optimistic for a playoff spot and think they should push for that. But I’d still look to trade Yoshida (absorb salary, add Yorke?) for a mL pitcher. Get rid of Jansen. I’d rather see almost anyone else in the 9th than him. But obviously tough...

A Dream of 2025, What is Going Right and Looks like the Sox can Build On

Thanks, yes, that is what I was asking. So yeah, I'd obviously see how O'Neill performs through the entire season... .and assuming he's somewhere around an .800 OPS 20+HR guy (which I think he looks like he'll be) the Sox really should QO him but then offer a two year deal --if Anthony is...

    Round 3: Celtics vs Pacers

Pardon for perhaps a stupid question but I generally don't follow basketball until the playoffs and saw that Porzingas is out. I haven't been able to find anywhere if he's expected back by this next series or ? I got to watch just two of the series against the Cavs and while it'd be better...

A Dream of 2025, What is Going Right and Looks like the Sox can Build On

I was going to ask about Teel as I thought he was a righty since he throws right but forget he batted left. Weirdo!!!! Anyhow.... I think retaining O'Neill (obviously depending on how the season plays out) makes sense- possibly for a two year deal maximum though. Can teams offer a QO then...

May: Red Sox discussion, observations and trend tracking...AKA It's not all about the Benjamins

The team really looks undisciplined in my limited watching time. The pitching looks very good but to me, Cora is still not leading well. Makes poor decisions late in the games, still doesn’t emphasize situational hitting.

….Sox are in a funk. Figuring out every possible way to lose a game and exploring those ideas in real life it seems.

A Dream of 2025, What is Going Right and Looks like the Sox can Build On

Yeah, he’s pretty much what we were hoping Yoshida could be. Even if his bat comes back…. Apparently his defense is unplayable (I didn’t think he was horrific but that’s based off watching maybe 20 total of his games out there). Seems reasonable to hope for getting him on another one year deal...

May: Red Sox discussion, observations and trend tracking...AKA It's not all about the Benjamins

But every team likely has a crazy blowout (or 2) and also every team likely gets shut out completely several times. Even the outliers level out

Generally agree, but FWIW, Rafaela has been a +.800OPS hitter for the past 3 weeks.

Chris Sale (plus $17mil) traded to Atlanta for Vaughn Grissom

I don't have the time to look up what the Mets put up so that Houston would take on Verlander besides those players and that would go towards what quality those players are seen as. But Sale, no matter how good he's pitching at the time will always be seen as a likely injury candidate. Even in...

Jeez…. I totally get the anger over the Mookie trade but this is crazy
