I just realized my math was off but I agree the balance should go to first place.if this is the case just roll my whole amount forward....i am in for this - definitely feel that more than 1st place in the final standings should get something more
Unfortunately never kept track of wins per season, just points and dollars. Looking at it though it appears you have 7.5 wins over the 5 years, with as you stated at least one absolute bust of a season coming in with 128 points last year.I'm pretty sure I have the weirdest correlation of point total to win total. I seem to be really good at drafting boom or bust teams. I think 2 of the 5 years I've had close to the most wins but haven't finished anywhere near the top of the standings.
What are the individual win totals?
That was my strategy last year, to try and find guys that played a lot and grinded it out. That didn't work out well.Unfortunately never kept track of wins per season, just points and dollars. This year you were tied for the second most amount of money won, but came in 11th place in points overall.
Haven't looked at your past teams, but you may be drafting swing for the fence type of guys. Maybe guys that don't grind out playing 25-30 events a year and get lots of cuts, but the players who when they play well they win, not just place in the top 10.
I wish I had kept even more data, I would really love to see what draft spots the top 3 finishers drafted from each year. I believe I looked into it a few years ago, and it was all over the place. To win this thing, you really need to hit a rising star in rounds 4-8 and your #1 pick has to not be a bust. That was my strategy last year, to try and find guys that played a lot and grinded it out. That didn't work out well.
I've also never drafted higher than middle of the draft, if I'm not mistaken. Getting one of the first few picks in the draft is an advantage. This year I picked dead last.
I had a top 5 overall finish last year from pick 19.I I had the 17th overall pick this year (out of 20), and finished 2nd overall. I'd be curious if anyone has ever finished higher with a lower pick. Sergio was my 1st pick, and his Major win was big, but he didn't do a whole lot after that. Leishman in round 2, and then Casey with the 56th pick were my two really good picks. Stricker, Streelman, and Lingmerth were all good contributors too, but Malnati and Stuard were basically shit.
Where have I threatened that?Says the guy who threatens to quit the league for good every season.
Zomp and I will figure something out and confirm with those who haven’t chimed in here that they’re ok with increasing the buy in.
If you want to go start your own league, feel free.

That's not even average!!!Well if I had Flawless's average draft spot...I may quit too!

In the grand scheme of things you're probably right, but the way I've always looked at it is we mimic a PGA season. So for example, the money winner from tour doesn't get a bonus. The Fedex cup winner does though, and I think its usually between 9-10 million. When you consider a tournament win now is between 1.5 and 2 million, it lines up pretty well with what we do.Not going to quote.
All other payouts are awesome, I always thought first place for total points was underpaid.
It was, but don't forget that the first place winner also is generally making the most money by virtue of winning a lot of weeks too. So it becomes a compounding issue if we weight it too heavily. Not going to quote.
In for $150
I like the $50 for last place, but will fine with $50 going anywhere people want.

This really is a league most people don't get rich or lose a lot of money. Lot of parity.
Definitely valid point, and hadn't looked at it that way.In the grand scheme of things you're probably right, but the way I've always looked at it is we mimic a PGA season. I get it, I just think with the added payouts for WGC (x3), Players...and the higher payouts for the majors. Some teams could have a very top heavy team winning the big tournaments - say 3 of them and grab $300, but for someone who is grinding out the whole season you may have 3-4 weekly wins at $50 but be able to grab the total points for the year (which I think should be rewarded the most). It was, but don't forget that the first place winner also is generally making the most money by virtue of winning a lot of weeks too. So it becomes a compounding issue if we weight it too heavily.
Ooooh - this is a great idea too.Another option for the extra $100 could be $25 for the 4 B tournaments (PR, Corales, Barbasol, Baracuda).
This is good.Another option for the extra $100 could be $25 for the 4 B tournaments (PR, Corales, Barbasol, Baracuda).
I've read through the proposed changes and I like most all of them. Mostly, I want to second DotB's opinion here and say that the most important change is to start the season earlier. Also agree with bbb that the draft should run from Dec 1 to the 15th, if possible. All I care about is that we start earlier. I'll let you guys figure out the details, but I'm on board with whatever you come up with.
