Miami (oh, Miami!)
This is also what I think. So I think Cora will give Smith and Cooper (but I’m not worried about Cooper) more or less daily PAs while Yoshida is IL’d. If Smith hasn’t shown anything by the time Yoshida either returns (or has surgery), it’s onto plan D at 1B/DH/LF: a Refsnyder/Kavadas platoon? Acquiring Tyler Wade from SD? Promoting/acquiring an infielder to play 3B and DHing Devers some?
I'd agree. If/when Yoshida is back, their bench would be:

McGuire (C lock)
Refsnyder (4th OF lock)
Short/Romy/Hamilton in the relief IF role.

You could carry a bat-first player there, but if Yoshida is DHing, how often would you get them in the lineup?

Smith is a LHH, so there's no obvious DH sub. He could start sometimes over Cooper, and come in to PH for him. Or you could burn the bench and have Smith PH for a MI, then plug Short in or something. But who would that be for? Rafaela? Grissom if he's not hitting?

Ultimately, if Smith hits, he may stick for a bit.

If the ump can be shamed into a makeup call or something, a look is probably enough.

You shouldn't trade that for not getting ejected for some petulant shit.
Players have been tossed for less.

Just wait until tomorrow and Angel Hernandez behind the plate.
