I think they are in real danger of losing this series if Porzingis doesn’t come back. Mitchell can go nuclear and take a game or two and now the variance margin for error is getting small.
Agreed. They have zero rim protection and Mobley has gotten anything he wants on the inside for 5 straight quarters. Add in a seemingly unstoppable Mitchell and a head in anus Tatum and this is a bad situation. This isn't the Game 2 loss to Miami.

There's no law against Tatum taking over multiple games in a row with 30-40 point outbursts and implanting his mark on the series. It's not like Brunson and Ant don't have screenshots where five guys are staring at them.

If Allen comes back Game 3 and Zinger is out all series, it’s a very real problem.

I can’t believe that people really think the Celtics are going to lose this series….

folks, it’s not happening.

I said it at the start of the series and I will repeat it again…..Celtics in 5

When I said I wanted to see a lot of Jordan Walsh in this series this is not what I had in mind.

STFU about the bench minutes, points narrative. And I normally really like RR. It’s so bad. Boston at their best because they’re so good in starter power won’t look as good here, especially in playoffs. It’s a bad playoff metric normally, worse here given each roster composition.

I mean, to get drilled by nearly 30 in the playoffs on your home court as the top seed?

There is no positive way to spin it. Everything is in a little doubt now.

Thing is, they weren’t hitting many threes until late in the 3rd. And they were already up a bunch when they heated up.

This loss isn’t just because CLE went off from 3. It’s because the Cs once again played like they downed NyQuill and listened to ASMR on a loop before the game.

10-15 vs 1-16 from 3 since halftime
The Cs were lethargic, but 10-15 from 3 is insane.

In case you can't see any other players.. DWhite is also 1-8 from three.

Edit: Tatum also leads the team in rebounds and assists.. but I know that doesn't matter
I said earlier White was terrible tonight and needed to stop shooting. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever said anything negative about Tatum here or anywhere else. He’s my favorite player in the league.

He (and Brown) are each 7-17 in a 20+ point loss to a team that is, to put it lightly, inferior. He did not play well tonight. Something he has in common with everyone else wearing white jerseys.

We gush over him routinely and talk about how he is a superstar MVP caliber player. The flip side of that coin is that he’s expected to carry the team when needed in the playoffs, and will shoulder a lot of blame when they have these kinds of games. I’m sure he’ll be fine on Saturday night, and all will be well. Tonight, I think he had a shitty game. Or, to be a little more precise, an empty game. Some of that was the team’s fault, but he owns some of it too.

It's one game. No reason to get our underoos in a bunch BUT if the Knicks threaten a sweep and can get some rest before the ECF that is when I'll be concerned.

The Celtics have like a 60% talent advantage in this series. It's a disgrace to lose a game like this, and also totally predictable given the history of this core.

I think it shows that Game 2 against Miami wasn’t a total aberration even if they took care of business the next three. These guys still have an issue with prosperity.
Yeah, they’re still immature. I thought maybe they’d finally get over that, but it seems ingrained.

Shooting variance was definitely a factor and Cleveland played really well, but can’t just point to shooting variance and say oh well because tonight was a lot more than that. Another sluggish effort at home, got smoked on the boards, etc. To not even keep it within striking distance in the fourth is awful. The three point shooting disparity on Cleveland’s relatively light volume doesn’t explain a near 30 point blowout.

What an ugly fucking game. Love for them to learn from it, then forget it and move on. But they clearly aren’t capable of the former so I’ll settle for the latter.

CLE at 46.4% from 3P; BOS at 22.9%; my guess is that the number of teams that have been outshot by that margin from 3P and won is vanishingly small.

The other problem for BOS is that taking the ball out of the basket all of the time negates their transition offense, which is where they get a lot of 3Ps.

CLE can cause some problems but from what I saw (3Q on) the Cs need to be more physical on defense. Maybe they'll do it like they did against MIA.
