DSL Red & Blue are playing Brewers 1 & 2 at 11 a.m.

FCL Red Sox are currently finishing a game from July 15th against the Twins & then playing another one.

Salem plays at 7 p.m. & YORDANNY is scheduled to start.

Greenville plays a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. & PERALES & BASTARDO are scheduled to pitch.

Portland game starts at 6 p.m., starter TBD, but I think it's probably Grant Gambrell's turn.

Worcester plays at 6:35 with Shane Drohan scheduled to start.

This is where the FCL game left off.

FCL game was suspended in the 5th due to rain.

Pierre was 2-2 with a triple & a run.

Luis Cohen came in after the Altavilla open & pitched 3 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts, allowing 2 hits & no walks.

FCL Sox winning 3-0. I assume they'll resume the game tomorrow & then play another.

Daniel Nunez started for DSL Red today. He's another guy missing from my prospect list, but in 18.1 innings prior to today he had 24 strikeouts & a 2.45 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP.

Nunez's full name is Bryant Daniel Nunez. He's an older DSL prospect at 20, so not too surprising if he has good results. He is from San Pedro de Macoris, VZ & signed for $50k in July '21.

Jesus Garcia started for DSL Blue.

Garcia was #67 on my previous list.

Garcia, from Santa Inez, VZ doesn't turn 18 until November & was signed in January of this year for a $130k signing bonus.

Garcia's ranking seems a bit high as he has struggled some lately & coming into today had a 5.23 ERA in 20.2 innings.

Looks like Dan Altavilla is set to open the next FCL Sox game... meaning he will technically have started both games of the doubleheader today... even though he hasn't pitched since the 15th.

In 101 PAs at FCL this season, JOHNFRANK has a .382 batting average & 1.023 OPS.

He's a free swinger with low walk & strikeout rates (5 walks, 12 strikeouts). Salazar has started 17 games at 3B this season, 4 at C & 3 at 1B.

JOHNFRANK had 83 PAs at Salem last season, so it's mildly surprising he didn't start the season there again, but I guess they wanted him to work on a few things. Last season he started games at all 4 infield positions.

JOHNFRANK is my #34 prospect. His younger brother Kleyver is my #108 prospect.

Kleyver is the starting catcher for DSL Blue today & batting cleanup. He's 0-1 with 2 walks so far & has an .813 OPS on the season.

Altavilla pitched 1.1 innings & allowed 1 run on 2 hits & a walk with 2 strikeouts as the rehab continues.

He was relieved by another guy down in the FCL rehabbing, Wyatt Olds. Although Olds has been rehabbing for wildness not injury.

Time to sort the Sea Dogs rotation...

All-Star Break
Friday, 7/14 Sterling Sharp
Saturday, 7/15 - Grant Gambrell
Sunday, 7/16 - Wikelman Gonzalez
Monday, 7/17 - No game
Tuesday, 7/18 - CJ Liu
Wednesday, 7/19 - Isaac Coffey
Thursday, 7/20 - Sterling Sharp

Dobbins hasn't pitched since July 6th. I wonder if this is just part of giving guys like Dobbins & Perales additional rest as they develop through the system. So yeah, it could absolutely be Dobbins & getting him into the rotation in the Friday role. Feels like they should call up Bastardo or Blalock & have whoever they call up replace Sharp, who is organizational filler.

Mondays - Off
Tuesdays - Liu
Wednesdays - Coffey
Thursdays - Sharp (Bastardo? Blalock?)
Fridays - Dobbins
Saturdays - Gambrell
Sundays - Wikelman

Might as well do Greenville's rotation. Not sure what they will do with the Perales game getting pushed back a day, but that's ok.

All-Star Break
Friday 7/14 - DiValerio/Hoffman (bullpen game)
Saturday 7/15 - Angel Bastardo
Sunday 7/16 - Juan-Daniel Encarnacion
Monday 7/17 - Off
Tuesday 7/18 - Dalton Rogers
Wednesday 7/19 - Bradley Blalock
Friday 7/21 - Luis Perales
Friday 7/21 - Angel Bastardo

So let's go with an ongoing schedule of:

Mondays - Off
Tuesdays - Dalton Rogers
Wednesdays - Bradley Blalock
Thursdays - TBD
Fridays - Luis Perales
Saturdays - Angel Bastardo
Sundays - Juan-Daniel Encarnacion

Seems like they could use 1 more real starter bumping up. Dobbins, Gambrell, Coffey & Wikelman have all graduated from Greenville to Portland this season.

On to Salem...

All Star Break
Friday 7/14 - Yordanny Monegro
Saturday 7/15 - Jedixson Paez
Sunday 7/16 - Noah Dean
Monday 7/17 - Off
Tuesday 7/18 - Gabriel Jackson (1st start of season)
Wednesday 7/19 - Jose Ramirez
Thursday 7/20 - Luis De La Rosa (needs to be stretched out more)
Friday 7/21 - Yordanny Monegro

They only seem to have about 3 actual starters right now, but De La Rosa & Jackson both have been pretty good & could do well with the opportunity. It looks like part of the issue is that they're hopefully giving Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz that same rest as Perales & Dobbins - he hasn't pitched since July 6th.

So let's go with something like...

Mondays - Off
Tuesdays - Noah Dean/Gabriel Jackson
Wednesdays - Jose Ramirez
Thursdays - Luis De La Rosa
Fridays - Yordanny Monegro
Saturdays - Jedixson Paez
Sundays - Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz

On to the FCL Red Sox...

Break
Thursday 7/13 - Elvis Soto
Friday 7/14 - Wyatt Olds
Saturday 7/15 - Dan Altavilla + Luis Cohen
Sunday 7/16 - Off
Monday 7/17 - Jeremy Wu-Yelland + Eybersson Polanco
Tuesday 7/18 - Rain Out
Wednesday 7/19 - Off
Thursday 7/20 - Elvis Soto
Friday 7/21 - Dan Altavilla + Wyatt Olds

Wandy Abreu has been out since 7/4 so I assume they'll be working him back into the rotation pretty soon...so let's go with...

Mondays - Wu-Yelland + Polanco
Tuesdays - Wandy
Wednesdays - Off
Thursdays - Soto
Fridays - Olds
Saturday - Cohen
Sundays - Off

& let's do Worcester...

All-Star Break
Friday 7/14 - Kyle Barraclough
Saturday 7/15 - Dinelson Lamet
Sunday 7/16 - Shane Drohan
Monday 7/17 - Off
Tuesday 7/18 - Brian Van Belle
Wednesday 7/19 - Kyle Barraclough
Thursday 7/20 - Dinelson Lamet
Friday 7/21 - Shane Drohan

So they've been going with a 4-man rotation since the break. Jake Faria cleared waivers, so I guess he'll probably get the 5th spot. There's room for one more if the Red Sox wanted to do something like promote CJ Liu, though - but there's also room for Sale/Whitlock/Houck when they're hopefully ready for rehab outtings soon.

They're all available at MILB.com.

The FCL game & one DSL game just ended, but here's the one still going on:

https://www.milb.com/gameday/dsl-red-sox-red-vs-dsl-brewers-1/2023/07/21/742065#game_state=live,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=742065

I'll post the links to the box scores on the finished games in a minute.

& yeah, this is a really big day for Red Sox pitching prospects between Perales, Monegro, Drohan, Dobbins, & Bastardo.

Garcia allowed 1 run in 4 innings on 1 hit & 4 walks with 2 strikeouts. He lowered his ERA to 4.74.
Red Sox Blue won 6-2

Darlyn De La Cruz pitched 3 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits & 4 walks with 3 strikeouts, lowering his ERA to 3.62, but doing his WHIP no favors.

Daury Pena pitched the last 2 innings without allowing a run, 2 hits, 1 walk & 3 strikeouts. Pena was just signed on July 13th (8 days ago) without a bonus as far as I can tell. The 18 y/o from Gaspar Hernandez, DR has now played in 2 games for DSL Blue & allowed 1 run in 3 innings.

Starlyn Nunez was 3-5 with a triple & a steal (7).

YOEY was 2-4 with a double & a walk.

Thank you! You’ve pretty much single-handedly gotten me back into following MiLB, which I kind of stopped doing since college. imagine a Perales-Bello-Monegro top three in the rotation? There’s just so much more talent to dream on than there has been

Just did an updated list with the draft picks who I've seen signed/reported to sign. Lots of shots in the dark there lol

It's now a top 180 list.

Will post the top 40 & spoil the next 140...

Happy to crowdsource this if anyone has strong opinions on any of it.

Red Sox Blue won 6-2
https://www.milb.com/gameday/dsl-brewers-2-vs-dsl-red-sox-blue/2023/07/21/741195#game_state=live,lock_state=final,game_tab=box,game=741195

Starlyn and Darlyn on the same team, amazing.

You don't have to call him Starlyn, Darlyn.
I never even called him by his name.
