Only the best players, only the best players!I have never seen anything like this in the 20+ years I have followed this team. It's hard to contemplate honestly.
Hope so but they said the same thing about Pivetta, who was eligible to be back last Sunday.
Yep, exactly. Any lingering bit and he'll need a rehab start or two, etc.Hope so but they said the same thing about Pivetta, who was eligible to be back last Sunday.
I was one of those that expressed trepidation that this pitching transition would create real attrition, at least until we end up with arms that developed and survived this approach. I have no answer for losing the 1B swinging a bat and the starting SS diving for a ball. Still don’t know what happened to Devers. At what point do they question how many breaking balls these guys are throwing when all your starters are getting hurt?
I’m prepared to contribute as many far below replacement level pitches as asked.Anybody from this thread ready to roll?

You forgot WhitlockP1: Season
P2: Just starting 15-day
P3: 2 weeks and counting
Yeah the CHB"s and Bill Simmond's of the world will think it's all a big conspiracy and excuse for the Red Sox not to acquire another starting pitcher or spend any money at all.Maybe this is the easy way out for a bad season. “Oh, we just had so many injuries, no team could get through that!”
Do the new shift rules prevent Cora from running 9 catchers out there?I think it's pretty well-established at this point that our Sox are the unluckiest of all the Soxes.
TIME MISSED:
1B: A week of April-May-June-???
2B: April
SS: Season
3B: About half of April, and counting
OF: A few weeks of O'Neill
C: HEALTHY
P1: Season
P2: Just starting 15-day
P3: 2 weeks and counting
RP: Feels like Kenley could blow at any minute, but so far so good
Well, eight, since Heineman's on the ILDo the new shift rules prevent Cora from running 9 catchers out there?
On July 8, 2022, Michael Wacha was placed on the IL (replaced by Connor Seabold). He joined Chris Sale (rib), Nathan Eovaldi (back), Rich Hill (knee), Matt Barnes (shoulder), and Garrett Whitlock (hip) who were already on the IL. The next day, Seabold was put on the IL with a forearm extensor strain.I have never seen anything like this in the 20+ years I have followed this team. It's hard to contemplate honestly.
Well, Casas was quoted as saying he felt his issue a day or two prior and tried to play thru it, resulting in an actual injury that will keep him out for weeks. I'm okay with a couple weeks off for Bello, but, man, this is almost a joke.Yeah, this is absolutely insane. I'm probably going to get flamed, but is there possibly a culture of over babying pulls, strains, "tightness", etc. with the Red Sox? Or something fundamentally flawed in their approach to conditioning or injury prevention? I'm honestly wondering/asking, not trolling with a hot take. I just have never seen anything like this with soft tissue stuff.
Crawford and Houck and pray for... What rhymes with Houck? They should just do Houck and Crawford now for the Fuck of it
Kutter and Tanner and pray for a banner?Crawford and Houck and pray for... What rhymes with Houck?
Agreed, which makes the solid start fairly encouraging. They are playing hard even with the lack of talent on the roster. We are running out a lineup of journeyman players, AA & AAA prospects now. It's not even a Major League team. Kind of like the last days of the season when your team has been out of the playoff race for a month.
That doesn't include Devers, who has missed a bunch of games due to injury but not gone on the IL. Or Yoshida, who has recently missed several games for unspecified reasons. The Red Sox are a CF away from fielding a team of guys who've been on the IL. C T. Heineman 1B T. Casas 2B V. Grissom SS T. Maybe there's something in the (dirty) water?Meanwhile, Chris Sale is averaging over 6 IP per start and has made 4 starts without incident. Sometimes you just can't win.
Must be something in the Charles?Meanwhile, Chris Sale is averaging over 6 IP per start and has made 4 starts without incident. Sometimes you just can't win.
Well if folks want good news, the Cubs just lost Cody Bellinger to, amusingly enough, a fractured rib, and both the Giants and Twins are running out below-average offenses (SF is 17th in the league in wRC+, MIN is 25th). And Atlanta was probably going to grind them into paste healthy or not, but Atlanta is going to grind a lot of teams into paste this season. This would all be rather insaneifying but for the fact that most of these injuries are pretty minor and we probably won't have too many replacement SPs if Pivetta and Whitlock return in the next 2 weeks. The schedule is bizarrely stacked though, with the Guardians, and then Cubs and Giants, then on the road vs Twins and Braves. Which is fucking annoying. But the Sox have three off days in the next two weeks. If they can hang in there OK and get most of the guys back (besides Story and Casas), the season will be back on again.
