Hi,
Is anyone out there familiar with eligibility rules for Cal Ripken All Stars?
My son is eligible for one more season of Majors. He turns 13 this summer. He played on the 90 ft diamond later Spring for his Middle School team, and played up in Babe Ruth in the Fall.
The plan this Spring was to have him play on the school team again, and play Babe Ruth. The Babe Ruth schedule meshes better with his school schedule, and allows more time for homework during the week. We had planned on having him play on the 12u All Star team post season.
I know that in our league kids have played up in Babe Ruth before, and then played in Cal Ripen All Stars. I don't know if that was "legal" or not. I assumed that it was an OK thing to do.
Now I am being told that he can't do this. The All Star coach told me that if he plays Babe Ruth he isn't eligible for 12u All Stars. I don't see how this would be different than a 10 year old playing Majors during the season (70 ft diamond) and then playing 10u All Stars on a 60 foot diamond.
So, does anyone know what the rules say?
