50% 3rd shot drive at them (pass from that depth is likely not happening)
50% is a ton.

I guess I like the idea of hitting this aggressively because it creates some balls where they likely will pop up the volley on that body shot, but ... I might need to road test that % and see if I can make it work. I'd love it if I could successfully move to this approach.

Yeah i think if I were playing more than once every couple weeks (platform tennis takes priority from oct til now) and had better rhythm on my drop those numbers would look different.
But for now I trust my drive enough that it has a better chance of producing a much easier next ball to drop on than I do a third shot drop off a good return. If that makes sense…

In the simulacrum
I hit an ATP for the first time.

I don't think the ball ever was more than a foot off the ground from the time I hit it until through it rolling to the fence.

Not how I would have predicted it, but it was pretty sweet. I'm playing the right side, as a lefty. A soft ball lands a couple feet back behind the kitchen line just over the center line onto the left side of the court. I dink it way out wide on my left/ into their ride side kitchen, almost wide enough for them to ATP me! They go for sort of a cross court winner in the kitchen, hitting the ball about 18 feet but barely two feet of 'up' court distance, if that makes sense.

I'm already moving in the right direction anyway just to get back in position. I get to the ball and just smack a backhand drive kinda flat, down into the ground like I was going for a racquetball kill shot.

From where I hit the ball I could not have put it back over the net if that was the rule.

I've still never pulled off an Erne.
