A 1b up until this year, Castellanos was moved to LF because of Triston Casas. Not to be mistaken with the MLB player, Pedro Castellano, Castellanos is slow footed on the bases and stiff defensively. He has good contact skills but fringe bat speed. His first few years in the league he would never walk or strike out. While he has plus power, he has never tapped into it game wise until late in 2019. if he can hit for any type of power, he may have a shot at making it to the Majors. Whether he sticks or not depends on how much power he hits for.
In his first year, he hit .326/.394/.496 in 264 PA with 20bb/26k as a an 18 year old in the DSL.
His second year, he hit .338/.382/.456 in 217 PA with 10bb/17k as a 19 year old in the GCL.
His 3rd year, he hit .302/.334/.387 in 365 PA with 12bb/50k as a 20 year old in A.
His 4th year, he hit .276/.321/.397 in 486 PA with 22bb/71k as a 21 year old in A+. His last 30 games that season: .295/.350/.580 with a .298 BAbip in 123 PA with 8bb/21k and 4 doubles, 2 triples and 8 HRs. Prior to that point, he had 7 HRs in 1209 PA.
This year, he's currently slashing .262/.328/.430 in 119 PA with 9bb/20k. He has 4 doubles, 1 triple and 4 HRs on a .286 BAbip. He's been striking out more, walking more and hitting for more power of late. Interesting development.
More suspect than prospect.
