This is the place to either spread existing nicknames for players, or create new ones.

This thread was prompted in part by the conversation earlier about David "Sandman" Sandlin & workshopping a nickname for Nicholas Judice.

But mostly by the realization that Wikelman's nickname is "The Baby Assassin".

I'll choose to read this as him being a baby who does assassinations & not someone who assassinates babies.

Some other nicknames from last year include:

Ceddanne "C Note" Rafaela
Roman "The Empire" Anthony
David "The Blizzard" Hamilton
Robert "The Kwiat Assassin" Kwiatkowski

I read it as someone that assassinates MFY hitters.[/quote]

In 2025 the Red Sox will officially be Big Anthony & the Imperials.

Is it difficult to assassinate babies?

No. Which is why no one does it. I don’t like this nickname. I also don’t like nicknames that someone inevitably has to grow out of. At 28 years old this will be a silly nickname. At 33 years old, downright dumb.

What if he was a time traveling Baby Assassin who only assassinated babies who would turn out to be evil & do unspeakable horrors unto the world? It still might not be challenging, but it could be considered important, world-altering work.

When he ages out of Baby Assassin after his rookie year he could just be The Assassin, or the MFY Assassin, or whatever new type of Assassin is most apropos at the time.

But I'm open to other ideas.

Stijn Van Der Schaaf needs a nickname.

When I found out the other day that his name was pronounced "Stine" instead of "Steen" I was like hey, like the German word for stone.

So I considered "The Rock", but I think that nickname is taken. So I was like The Dutch Rock? But that was dumb so I was like hey, what's the Dutch word for rock or stone? Apparently the word for both is "Steen" & I just smh.

So I tried to figure out if the Netherlands had a national rock. It does not appear to. It's must common rock is limestone, but I quickly vetoed "Limey Stiney". Then I looked into Dutch rock bands, but The Golden Earring also doesn't work.

Some non-rock-related ideas I've mostly vetoed:

SHAFT (could be construed as mildly inappropriate)

The Clutch Dutch (seems like poor English)

AmsterDAMN (he's not from Amsterdam)

Hoe Dichterb ("The Closer" in Dutch per Google Translate)

Foort Knox (he's from Amersfoort)

Tulips & a Right Arm (a bit esoteric)

Van Gogh Out There And Shut Them Down (tl;dr)

The Windmill Warrior (meh)

The Panoply (g'luck trying to figure out the thought process behind this one)

The Region (a bit easier than the last one but still wtf)

Idk, as you can see I need some assistance.

Miami (oh, Miami!)
All of these guys have excellent names, as is. I mean, if my name was "Wikelman" I'd want to be called "Wikelman" instead of Winkie or whatever sort of forced "awesomeness" someone wanted to foist on me.

Roman Anthony
It should quite obviously be: Antonius.

The Van Der Schaaf Generator wins IMO.
If you do want to go with the "Stein" thing, since he is a pitcher, "Rudi" could be a decent backup nickname:

So does Young Jeezy. Now in his mid 40s
Jeezy removed the "Young" long ago.

The stage name many artists start out with may not be the same name they end with, especially if their moniker includes “Lil” or “Young”. Young Jeezy recognized his growth from young Southern rhymer to “grown” rap star and decided to drop the “young.” “It sounds good because when I came in the game that’s who I was and that was my state of mind, but I’m a grown man,” he told RapFix Live back in 2013. “Those zeros get to adding up, you gotta drop the ‘young.'”

Lil Wayne, on the other hand, is still short.

That is my point. And the Baby Assassin will have to do the same. Where is Young MC these days? The Young Rascals became the Rascals. Etc.
I believe Young MC is standing against a wall somewhere in a nerdy manner.

When Wikelman ages out of Baby Assassin he can just be John.
