That's in amazing condition for a 50-year old black border.
One of 85 PSA has graded 7 or higher (there has never been a PSA 10 of any card in the set, and only 62 9's). It was a very limited issue:That's in amazing condition for a 50-year old black border.
I love oddball issues. One of 85 PSA has graded 7 or higher. This set was a very limited issue:

Has anybody heard from Joe Lately? I just realized that his last post was back in May.Just finished hanging a third display! Now I'm done, and I'm hoping to sell off most of what I can't fit inside these three:
I've been checking because I had some interest in the April break. Seems like he logs in 2-3 times a week but hasn't posted in a while. I too hope that all is well.Has anybody heard from Joe Lately? I just realized that his last post was back in May.

I think it was the back right edge (slightly rough cut or maybe minor pitting), but you could only see it if you zoom in, and I wouldn't even notice if I weren't looking for it. If you were to cover the label, you'd be hard-pressed to tell it apart from the BGS 9 based on a quick eyeball test. Their loss is your gain! One thing I don't think I'll ever be able to do well in this hobby is figure out grading systems. I just finished my 1998 SP Chirography set (once I get it in a display case I'll post the whole family - there are some cards in there I'd like to improve condition due to autograph or surface issues but I have all 30), and I just got the Griffey in today. I had been on the hunt for a Griffey for a while now , given the substantial cost of the card and relative rarity (Limited to 400 but as a redemption, so some of those never saw the life of say) it was waiting for the right one for my budget. There was a severely creased one that sold for $500 that was just a step too far condition wise, and a raw one that sold for $1,250 with a black signature (the blue turns to black on these cards really easily, several of my upgrade opportunities are black ink), and then an SGC 8.5 and PSA9 that just went beyond what I wanted to pay. I won an auction for a BGS7 that was marked down due to a 6 subgrade on the edges and...man, I don't see it at all. I'm sure it's there but like I don't think I could ever mark it down as far as BGS did. Very happy with the card.
I appreciate the better set of eyes. I think some of the subgrades may have been a tad generous in the other direction so I'm certainly not mad, but man...if nothing else this will encourage me to go for more lower grade cards if I honestly can't tell with the number in front of me. Certainly not worth the 1k+ "upgrade" to the 9...I think it was the back right edge (slightly rough cut or maybe minor pitting), but you could only see it if you zoom in, and I wouldn't even notice if I weren't looking for it. I'd be tempted to crack that out of the slab and send it to PSA.One thing I don't think I'll ever be able to do well in this hobby is figure out grading systems. The centering issue appears to be that it’s a little too high? Because of the fact that the name is in the top border, that almost looks normal. Good buy. He’s a legend.Picked up this Rickey rookie. Massive differences in prices between 7s, 8s, and 9s on this one. Iconic card of an iconic player. Snagged this 7 because the issues appear to centering ones and I’ve seen worse on 8s.View attachment 68021

This is a tough question to ask, because 10-20 years ago or so, the card market was so, so different than it is now.I collected NBA trading cards When i was a kid. Being from Germany, there wasn‘t much to choose from, 30years ago…
Now, i plan on buying some boxes for (imo) decent prices (like 200-500€), keep them for 10-20 years and then sell them.
Has anyone in here ever done that succesfully (1.buying,2.keeping it for 10+ years and 3.sell with a profit)??
Which boxes would you recommend trying that strategy with (no matter which sports/pokemon/…)??
Thx !
Uhhhhhhhh....yeah. lolWas there a big crowd there? Usually Saturday is the biggest day.
Really great looking card. I like it better than anything they’ve done with flagship recently
It was nice to be thanked regardless. lolOops it was you whom I meant to thank!
There's another one on eBay now. 3 days left, no bids starting at $179 or buy it now for $235This is a super long shot, but does anyone have a 2023 Topps Series 2 Golden Mirror Conner Capel #418 for sale? I haven't seen one anywhere other than one sold on eBay this week. Below is what it looks like:

Thank you! I actually picked this card up off of someone on Twitter, but appreciate you looking out.
Just getting started on Our Team. Fortunate to have a baseball friend to share and bring this one up in a discussion. Thanks @runnels3I got these after finishing Our Team by Luke Epplin, a great read about the '48 champs.

Anyway, got a guy on the phone that seemed super helpful (I've done this dance many times, so I'm not holding my breath) and we talked for a while. Basically, he said for any cards I don't want to wait for, he can order NBA Prizm Sparkle Packs for each (the packs retail for about $75, and you do have a chance of hitting something in them), so I told him to replace the Correia/Jefferson/Mariota/Crabbe redemptions with those. He said he would put those in immediately and they would ship in 2-3 weeks.
He said he was on the phone with his fulfillment team regarding the others. He said for the 1/1 Logoman, they can send a "White Box" which is a 1/1 mystery card. I told him go for it, but he said that could take a few months to go out. And he said he would have them replace the remaining cards with autographed cards of equal or greater value, and that he would call me in an hour or two (this was about 2 hours ago, no call) and confirm everything.
I guess we'll see.
During my research into white boxes, I did find this though. https://cardlines.com/panini-white-box-card-redemption/#:~:text=White Box is a way,a certain number of days.
According to that, you can request a white box for any redemption over $100, which isn't true. He said they only use them to replace 1/1's or cards valued over $1,000.00.

Panini be Panini I guess. It's kinda funny how it's Lamelo Ball of all people given he's been the poster boy for failed redemption signings over the past few years, I'm guessing you're getting someone else's unfulfilled item on that one. Honestly not the worst output but, as usual, sobering given the amount of time and effort you had to put in to get what you got.UPDATE:
It does not appear I am getting a white box. Shocking that something got lost in translation, but it appears they are replacing the Bosa, Jaylen Browns, Jamal Murray, Carroll, Ewing and DeRozen cards with the following, as I got an email last night saying they have been shipped. When I checked my account with Panini, all of those redemptions had been closed out.

I believe the Pickett card is going for around $400-$600 right now.
The Lamelo goes for around $1,000 (can be quite a bit higher) depending on how good the jersey patch is.
And then the 5 sparkle packs, it appears.
Strangely, they did not close out the Crabbe, Mariota, Jefferson and Correia cards, which I had asked them to replace with sparkle packs.
According to the tracking information, should be delivered tomorrow and then I'll take picks and let you all know. All in all, definitely lost money in the long run, but happy to have this off my plate finally.
Oh yeah, all of the Ball Immaculate rookie cards were redemptions, and so is the Pickett card. There are even less Pickett's on the market from Contenders than there are Balls, so you are 100% right. They got those cards signed, and when the redemptions expired without a ticket being opened, they turn around and use those cards to fill the redemptions they never got signed. It's a nice gig, sell two boxes with redemptions, but only have to give out the product once.Panini be Panini I guess. Panini has had that same monopoly for years with football and basketball, so fuck them with a rusty sword.Fanatics as a monopoly is concerning but Panini is just terrible sometimes
