Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler are the coaches for this season of The Ultimate Fighter. I haven't been watching but Conor's team is currently 0-7 with I think one fight remaining. That's embarrassing. Practically impossible, probability wise.

They're also slated to fight December 16th in Vegas at T-Mobile Arena at UFC 296, but Conor hasn't entered the USADA testing pool and is well beyond the 6-month window of testing needed to fight on that date (hint: he's juiced to the gills and probably can't get his in-house tests to come up clean). Everyone is speculating that Dana will twist USADA's arm for an exception because Conor sells PPVs.
This much was implied by Chandler's tweet of a Christmas tree. I haven't watched TUF this year as i want to binge it once its over but from all I've heard this result was not unexpected based on the team Conor selected. I think it was Conor won the coin toss and selected the prospects at one weight class leaving Chandler to pick first from the other weight class where he choose the veterans. So Conor's roster is full of inexperienced and raw prospects while Chandler's are some with actual UFC and high level regional experienced veterans who are more fight ready today.

Chandler tweeted the Xmas tree and Conor tweeted the Santa face…a few hours after Fury / Ngannou was announced. I’m sure Dana got in their ear.

But Dana pretty much said they were fighting in December over a month ago in a press conference without coming right out and saying it. He said Jones/Miocic in November and “another big fight in December”.

Wish it was Adesanya vs Dricus, but Strickland if a decent stand in.

Gane continues to cheeky with back of the head blows. But he just eviscerated Spivac from all angles. Dominant bout for him.

I'm sure the UCF will put their own testing apparatus in place, though maybe they'll outsource it again. Probably get that done some time after January. Heh.

I feel bad for the first fighter to get suspended under whatever process comes next. Guessing it won't be one who brings in a ton of money.

I wish Volk and Usman had full camps. It wouldn't surprise me at all if one or neither looked anything like themselves. Very difficult at that level to overcome short notice without some favorable luck involved. What a card though.
For sure, but you gotta respect dudes at that level being willing to step up against tough fighters. Exactly what you want from champions.

I wonder who is more concerned about the short notice and time available to prepare, Volk or Makhachev?

Volk pushed him pretty hard. Wonder if there are some doubts.

Yes, plus Usman isn’t exactly coming off of a great run at the moment.

But yeah, that card is stacked. I’ve been looking forward to it.

Looking at the card for Dec 16 now. Yikes. Dana must be fucking pissed. That was supposed to be a Conor PPV.

Historically fighters of Volk's age at 155 do not fare well. I think we saw the best of him 8 months ago and it was essentially an even fight...between the age and short notice I do not think this will end well for him.

Dammit. I just realized UFC 294 is in Abu Dhabi, and therefore, the awesome main card is starting right now. I was looking forward to enjoying fights tonight. Maybe I'll just watch it later and try to avoid any news.

Nah. You don't need to do that. It's my job to avoid this thread if I'm planning to watch it recorded vs. live. I have no idea what I'm doing here now. Goodbye.
I was only going to point out the outrageous amount of low blows and the incompetence of the ringside doctor, both in stopping the Walker fight (because his answer of "the desert" didnt pass his test question of what country they were in, when he likely didn't know the answer prior to the fight) and telling Victor Henry that "we saw the replay it hit your leg" as he's whimpering in pain on these for five minutes (and was later rushed to hospital after vomiting in locker room). Also, the scene between Walker and Ankalaev following the stoppage...first with both corners entering the cage WWE brawl style...following by Dana jumping in as peacemaker almost felt scripted.

For a card with so many big favorites pretty much every underdog was competitive if not having won (Naimov and Breeden) or was winning prior to being finished (Elliott). I'd like to know how much Usman and Volk were paid to save this PPV card....hopefully for them it was piles.

I thought Usman gave a solid performance considering the circumstances. Going up in weight on 2 weeks notice. Don’t think his stock has dropped at all.

The Walker thing. I felt like he didn’t want to continue. His answer of the desert was fair enough but he couldn’t answer what round he was in. I think he saw an out and took it then tried to save face afterwards.

Usman - I wasn't impressed at all. He got 10-8'd out of the gate and either Chimaev used R2 to conserve energy for R3 or had nothing left folllowing R1.....I felt that Chimaev kinda gifted him R2. Having said that, this is about what I expected under the circumstances of taking this fight. I don't expect a great performance from him next time out even with a full camp on those knees but we shall see what's next for him.

Walker - That's possible too. The entire scene was weird.

Holy shit, that fight was way closer than it was supposed to be.

I wasn't scoring rounds, but it feels like Ngannou deserved it. He had almost all the big shots and controlled the ring. I know Fury probably out-scored Francis in abunch of rounds, especially early on.

I’m in shock. Not a good look for boxing.
Now I am really looking forward to catching the replay.

Didn't watch the fight and just followed the play-by-play. Even if Fury didn't prepare properly or take the fight seriously, this is still a shocking result.

And of course even more so if he did prepare properly.

I bet Dana is pissed and the PFL is thrilled. What an entertaining spectacle.

I’d love to see the odds on Ngannou Wilder. I can’t tell you how many times I heard people say leading up to this fight, “if Wilder couldn’t put Fury away with his power, Ngannou has no chance.” Turns out, Francis didn’t rely on his power.

It’s crazy because Ngannou never looked that good punching outside the power but he went the twelve rounds pretty even with the world champion.
