That goal was equally on Marchand as it was Pasta. I have no idea what the fuck Marchand was doing there, he's drifting towards the other end behind all 5 other guys while Vegas has full possession. Pasta clearly thought Marchand was coming back for D help so was trying to just slow Stone down.It looked to me like if Marchand hadn't broken up ice when Pastrnak challenged the puck, Marchand could have covered the eventual goal scorer instead of giving up the two-on-one.
Edit...Just picture Charlie Murphy laughingAbsolutely need to minimize Pasta in OT. He puts no effort into it whatsoever. He can be so lazy and careless at crucial times. The B's fought hard to get to that point and didn't deserve his lackadaisical approach.
I think it’s informed by him half assing a couple plays in the previous OTs/shootout.That goal was equally on Marchand as it was Pasta. Also Pasta busted his ass to get back after he realized it, but it was too late. Anyone thinking Pasta is lazy is immediately disqualified from having an opinion in my eyes. It was a bad play sure (though not entirely his fault) but not a lazy one.
probably referring to thisWhat has he half assed in the shootout?
Yeah this is well said. And I think everyone tends to remember the failures and take for granted the ridiculous things he does, as is human nature. Aka we remember that shootout attempt against the Avs but just shrug off his goal during regulation that was genuinely ridiculous and elite level stuff. He's one of the very very few guys in the league that when he has an open shot from the top of the circles in, I'm surprised when it's not in the net. Matthews and maybe McDavid are the only other ones? Talking purely shots that flat out beat the goalie, not breakaways or dekes etc.(he does frustrate me sometimes but that's probably him being a victim of his own success more than anything)
The reason people might do this is because the ridiculous goal was against the Coyotes, not the Avs. Sigh I'm an idiot. And I think everyone tends to remember the failures and take for granted the ridiculous things he does, as is human nature. Aka we remember that shootout attempt against the Avs but just shrug off his goal during regulation that was genuinely ridiculous and elite level stuff.
Some good clips of his passing in this mix.Yeah this is well said. And I think everyone tends to remember the failures and take for granted the ridiculous things he does, as is human nature. Unrelated but while we're talking about him, I feel like he's become a much better passer this year too.
