Thx! Found my father-in-law dead in his house on Monday. Just spent many hours trying to sort 20 years of hoarded paperwork. Been a weird week.

Will try to get caught up a bit later.
That's heavy in a lot of ways, my best to you and your family.

And thanks as always for all your work here.

I guess they had 2 more base runners than Portland?

Article on Fangraphs comparing the defense of SS prospects.

https://blogs.fangraphs.com/lets-watch-some-shortstop-prospects-play-defense/

Here is the blurb on Mayer:

“ Marcelo Mayer, Boston Red Sox
Mayer has been out since August 2 with soreness in his non-throwing shoulder. Portland manager Chad Epperson told The Athletic two weeks ago that Mayer was seven to 10 days from a return, but that has proven to be optimistic. The tape he put down prior to the injury is encouraging, though. I had Mayer evaluated as less likely to stick at shortstop than many of the others analyzed here, but while he still has some issues, his actions should enable him to do so. His hands are fantastically quick and skillful, and this is most evident on double play attempts when he’s either starting things or acting as the pivot man. Mayer is also a much more natural low-to-the-ground athlete than either Holliday or Merrill, and he looks much more comfortable backhanding balls in the hole, though he doesn’t always have the arm to finish that play and his range is a shade below average.”

I guess we'll end on the good note, so let's cover the Worcester game 1st, & then I'll find some highlights.

Mosqueda allowed 3 runs in 2 innings of opening (I told them to open a righty).

Chris Murphy came in & pitched 4 scoreless innings with 2 hits, 2 walks & 5 strikeouts.

Justin Garza allowed a run in 2 innings.

Cam Booser pitched a scoreless 9th with a walk & a strikeout.

I was just about to c&p that part when I saw your edit lol

Glad he sees the good fielding, too.

Worcester had 7 different players with 1 hit each. Fitzgerald's was a double & Zimmer/Koss/Chang had doubles.

Blizzard had 2 steals & is now at 51 on the season & Dalbec had his 17th.

Dalbec was 1-2 with 2 walks, & Roberto Hernandez didn't have a hit but also had 2 walks.

Why do you think they're so slow to come around? My Danny is clearly pretty damn good.
They seem really slow to act on pretty much everyone in both directions... with the exception of Johanfran who they rushed up the rankings crazy fast.

Not sure if it's by design & they feel like you shouldn't overreact to small sample sizes, but I'm not sure how they don't feel the electricity.

When I did my 1st rankings on July 5th (back when it was only a top 102) & I had Yordanny 5 & they had him 32.

Now I wonder if I'm underrating him at 9 lol

I don't know. They just take a really conservative approach. Lots of guys with ceilings of emergency utility men & 15th guys out of the pen in the top 60. But then seem to overrate a bunch of SS who can't hit to save their lives. Who knows? I'll stop hating.

I wonder if they want to see more from his FB before getting excited?
He can throw it 96 with some carry & he's 20. I think his fastball will be ok.

I think the more interesting thing is will be be able to start getting deeper into games next year.
