In pleasant SS news, Yu Chang is playing SS for the Woo Sox and Pablo Reyes is DH-ing tonight. Cedanne is in CF.
Woos lead 4-0 after 1 inning.

Chang, Reyes & Valdez b2b2b hits. Bear Claw has 4 strikeouts in 2 innings.

Isaac Coffey pitched 4 scoreless but then allowed a 3-run homer in the 5th. Final line, 5 IP, 3ER, 4 hits, 2 walks, 7 strikeouts .

He got through 5 2/3 no hit innings with 10 strikeouts... then a walk & homer on a 3-0 pitch. Poor Bear Claw.

Zeferjahn pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief for Portland. 3 hits, 3 strikeouts & importantly for Zeferjahn...no walks. ERA down to 3.60.

Guerrero pitched the last 2 innings for his 14th save in a 7-3 win. He allowed 1 hit, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts & lowered his ERA to 1.11.

Binelas ended up 3-4 with the homer.

Rosier ended up 1-2 with his homer, a walk & his 28th steal of the season.

Gabriel Jackson (#100 on my Top 102 Red Sox prospects list) came in & pitched 3 innings & allowed 1 run. 2 hits, no walks, 2 strikeouts.

Railin Perez allowed an unearned run in the 9th & picked up his 1st save in a 4-2 Salem victory.

Bottom of the order went 7-12.

Ryan Fernandez, who seems to have lost control lately, walked 2 & allowed a home in the 8th to cut the WooSox lead to 8-5, but AJ Politi came in for the 9th & pitched a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout for his 7th save. He lowered his ERA to 3.09.

Politi is almost definitely someone who could be helping the Red Sox if there was room for him on the 40, but I think they think a bit too highly of him to make him one of the fungible guys.

Chang went 2-5 & Reyes went 2-4 with the aforementioned homer in their respective rehab outtings.

Rafaela went 1-5 with 2 strikeouts to maintain his .200 average since being promoted. He did he his 1st AAA steal.

I watched the game on NESN. He's still flailing at pitches well out of the strike zone but conversely, also took some strikes - maybe both strike 3's. I suspect he's still caught in between trying find that comfortable zone of improved patience that this year is so much about for him

btw, it looks like there's a typo on that linked list - Meidroth.s .417 OBP plus .403 SLG should be an .820 SLG, not .721. The 721 took me aback at first, I was pretty sure he was hitting better than that.

JOHNFRANK was also 3-5 that game & Karim Ayubi was 0-0 with 4 walks & 3 runs.

Ayubi is 19 y/o & from Willemstad, Curacao. He was signed for $85k in January '21. He was 14 bb & 14 k's & an .859 OPS.
